Actress and prominent activist, Alyssa Milano, recently disclosed a deeply personal experience from 1993, where she underwent two abortions.

The revelation came during an episode of her podcast “Sorry Not Sorry,” dedicated to discussing anti-abortion legislation and the reasons behind women opting for such procedures.

Introducing herself, Milano boldly stated, “I’m Alyssa Milano, and I’ve had an abortion.

I control my own body.”

The podcast primarily featured narratives of other women sharing their abortion stories before Milano delved into her own journey.

Reflecting on her past, Milano described being in love for the first time during that period, experiencing the profound intensity that comes with youthful romance.

Despite actively using birth control for various reasons, including her unpreparedness for motherhood, the conclusion of her popular sitcom “Who’s The Boss,” and the intake of an acne medication with potential birth defect risks, she unexpectedly found herself pregnant.

Asserting her autonomy, Milano emphasized, “I chose to have an abortion.

I chose.

It was my choice,” highlighting the significance of individual agency in making deeply personal decisions about one’s health care.

Shortly after the first incident, Milano faced another pregnancy.

Once again, she made the decision to terminate the pregnancy, firmly believing it was the right choice for her well-being and future.

She candidly expressed the challenges surrounding such decisions, emphasizing that while not easy or desired, they were necessary for her at the time.

In addition to recounting her experiences, Milano addressed societal double standards regarding women’s s**ual autonomy and pleasure, pointing out the unfair criticism often directed at women for embracing their desires akin to men.

Looking back, Milano acknowledged that without opting for the abortions, her life would have taken a vastly different course.

She expressed gratitude for her present reality, encompassing her cherished children – whom she describes as beautiful, loving, and curious – a supportive husband, and a flourishing career, all of which she felt fully prepared for, thanks to her past choices.
