Why on earth should Prince William welcome him back to the royal fold?

Prince William Faces Unfair Pressure to Reconcile with Harry, Says Richard Eden

In a scathing critique, Richard Eden, the Diary Editor of The Daily Mail, questions why Prince William should be expected to welcome Prince Harry back into the royal family after his appalling behavior in recent years.

Eden argues that the mounting pressure on Prince William to extend an olive branch to his younger brother is unjust and unrealistic.

Amidst news of King Charles’ diagnosis with an unspecified form of cancer, some commentators have called for Prince William to take the first step towards reconciliation, despite the criticisms of the Royal Family made by Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

However, Richard Eden contends that Harry’s behavior has been so abysmal that it would be unfair to expect William to embrace him with open arms.

In his Palace Confidential newsletter, Eden emphasizes the need for Harry to offer a heartfelt apology to William and Catherine (the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge) before any attempts at rebuilding their relationship can begin.

He asserts that Harry and Meghan’s actions over the past few years have not only betrayed and slandered members of the Royal Family but also had a detrimental impact on their mental health.

When Prince Harry learned of his father’s illness, he swiftly issued a statement announcing his intention to visit him.

Eden criticizes the haste with which this statement was made, as it came just half an hour after Buckingham Palace revealed King Charles’ cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Countless articles subsequently urged the Prince of Wales to use this opportunity to mend fences during Harry’s visit, emphasizing the importance of their father’s well-being.

However, it became evident that Prince William had no plans to see Harry, who left Britain after a mere 24 hours, opting to stay in a hotel rather than one of the royal residences in London.

The King’s meeting with Harry at Clarence House lasted little more than half an hour, shorter than the time he spent with Princess Beatrice and her husband the previous day.

Richard Eden believes that the pressure on Prince William to reconcile with his brother is grossly unfair.

He highlights the need for a heartfelt apology from Harry as an essential step towards any potential reconciliation.
