Julian Lennon, a 48-year-old musician and the son of the late Beatle John Lennon and Cynthia, has publicly voiced his feelings of being disregarded by his father’s former bandmates and their families.
He took to Facebook to express his frustration, stating that he was excluded from several social gatherings related to the Beatles, including Sir Paul McCartney’s wedding receptions in London and New York.
In a post on his personal Facebook page following Sir Paul’s star-studded wedding reception with Nancy Shevell in New York, Julian lamented being left out of significant events involving the Beatles.
He questioned why he was not invited to these occasions and declared that he and his mother would not be forgotten in history.
Despite being the son of one of the Beatles, Julian revealed that he had not received invitations to various events such as the premiere of George Harrison: Living In The Material World and the five-year anniversary performance of the Beatles musical Love in Las Vegas.
He expressed his disappointment at the perceived snubs by his father’s former bandmates.
Interestingly, while Julian felt excluded, his half-brother Sean, son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, attended both of Sir Paul’s wedding receptions and the Love anniversary event.
Meanwhile, Yoko Ono attended all the events except for the London wedding reception, and George Harrison’s widow Olivia and their son Dhani were present at select gatherings.
Following Julian’s Facebook post, which was later removed, fans of the Beatles weighed in on the situation, with some sympathizing with his feelings of being overlooked.
Despite the public outcry, sources attempted to downplay the incident, attributing it to a misunderstanding rather than intentional exclusion.
According to insiders, there was confusion regarding Julian’s whereabouts during the events, leading to assumptions that he was not available to attend.
It was clarified that the lack of invitation was not a deliberate act but a result of miscommunication among the attendees.
Julian was described as intense, and it was emphasized that there were no ill feelings towards Sir Paul or Yoko.
Contrary to the speculation surrounding his relationship with Yoko Ono, reports suggest that Julian’s bond with her has improved significantly.
He has acknowledged similarities between himself and his father, particularly in terms of temperament, but has consciously worked on managing his anger issues over the years.
Julian admitted to reflecting on his behavior and striving for a more peaceful approach to conflict resolution.
In a candid revelation, Julian shared his personal growth journey, highlighting his efforts to address past grievances and foster a healthier relationship with Yoko.
He recognized the importance of honoring his father’s memory and indicated a positive shift in their dynamic.
Despite the challenges they faced, Julian expressed a sense of understanding and reconciliation with Yoko, signaling a newfound harmony in their connection.
