Memorial Service Led by Queen Camilla for Prince William’s Godfather; King Charles Unable to Attend

In a tribute to the late King of Greece, King Constantine, Buckingham Palace has announced that will preside over a thanksgiving service at Windsor Castle.

This memorial event is set to take place at St George’s Chapel on Tuesday, 27 February, and will be attended by members of the British alongside King Constantine’s relatives, including his wife, Queen Anne-Marie, and their eldest son, Crown Prince Pavlos.

, who shared a close bond with his Greek relative Constantine, will unfortunately be absent from the service.

The monarch, who recently disclosed his battle with cancer, is currently focused on his treatment and is refraining from public appearances.

Both Charles and Constantine were not only second cousins but also had a godfather-godson relationship, with Constantine being the godfather to .

Their familial connection traces back to their fathers’ relationship, as and King Paul of Greece were first cousins.

The remembrance ceremony will be spearheaded by Queen at Windsor Castle, honoring the life and legacy of the late King Constantine.

Anne-Marie, King Constantine’s spouse, is known for her ties to the Danish royal family, being the younger sister of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark.

Meanwhile, Queen Margrethe II recently made headlines by stepping down from the throne, making way for her eldest son, King Fredrik X, to succeed her.

King Constantine passed away at the age of 82 on January 10, 2023, after a prolonged period of illness.

His funeral in Athens was attended by several members of the British royal family, including the Princess Royal and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.
