Why royal staffers thought Meghan Markle was ‘basically unhinged’

The narrative surrounding and her alleged bullying behavior continues to generate buzz as former aides have come together, humorously dubbing themselves the “Sussex Survivors Club.”

These nicknames come amidst ongoing discussions about the Duchess of Sussex’s interactions within the royal circle.

The departure of Josh Kettler, who served as ‘s chief-of-staff for only three months, has reignited these long-standing rumors about Markle, often referred to as “Duchess Difficult.”

His resignation has sparked renewed speculation about the working environment within the couple’s camp.

In his book “Battle of the Brothers,” royal commentator Robert Lacey didn’t hold back, asserting that staff members perceived Meghan as someone who portrayed herself as a victim while allegedly bullying those around her.

“She was seen as having narcissistic traits and was perceived as unhinged,” Lacey wrote, painting a critical picture of Meghan’s interactions with her staff.

The initial allegations of Meghan’s mistreatment toward employees date back to 2021.

In response, she publicly denounced these claims, dubbing them a calculated attempt to tarnish her reputation with distortion and misleading narratives.

Despite her denials alongside Harry’s defense of her character, Kettler’s exit left many questioning the couple’s professional ethics.

Royal observers have noted a concerning trend: a notable turnover in staff associated with the Sussexes.

Helena Chard, a keen commentator on royal affairs, pointed out that a staggering eighteen members of their team have come and gone, suggesting deeper issues may be at play.

“Bringing fresh ideas to a group can certainly be beneficial,” Chard remarked.

However, she highlighted that such high employee turnover points to possible dysfunction within the organization.

There’s a growing narrative that indicates the couple may be challenging to work for, which could hinder their staff’s performance.

According to various reports, Kettler’s departure was described as a “mutual” decision, stemming from an arrangement meant to be temporary.

Although the specifics of his departure are still under scrutiny, it hasn’t quelled the rampant speculation.

Chard noted, “These staff members were carefully selected, having thrived under demanding leaders in fast-paced settings.

It raises questions about Harry and Meghan’s leadership style and how it impacts their team’s success.” This raises eyebrows about whether the couple’s expectations are truly aligned with realistic work environments.

Initially, Kettler was brought on board to help guide Prince Harry during a transitional phase, especially after the couple faced harsh criticisms, being labeled as “grifters” and a “Hollywood flop.”

Royal correspondent Cameron Walker remarked that Kettler’s role was pivotal, particularly as the couple sought to redefine their public image.

Prior to his resignation, Kettler had accompanied Harry on key engagements, including trips to London and Nigeria.

“He started just a week before Harry and Meghan went to Nigeria back in May, he also accompanied Prince Harry here in London for the Invictus Games 10th anniversary service at St Paul’s Cathedral. But it’s a huge distraction,” Walker noted.

“We do have an upcoming Colombia visit from the couple. And it begs the question, why is it he quit after just three months?”
