Olivia Wilde Masters Pole Dancing for Movie Role

Learning the art of pole dancing presented a challenging journey for Olivia Wilde.

With less than 48 hours to perfect the intricate moves of a bold and vivacious character in the film “Butter,” Wilde embraced the task with grace, under the tutelage of a seasoned instructor specializing in striptease routines.

Stuck in Austria due to the volcanic ash cloud, Wilde faced a time crunch to reach Louisiana for filming.

Despite the setback, she recounted how a trainer from S Factor flew in to provide intensive training at a local strip club called Action Central.

The experience was so enriching that Wilde humorously mentioned being offered a job at the club if her acting career didn’t pan out.

Upon reading the script, Wilde was instantly captivated by the role of Brooke, an unconventional BMX-riding exotic dancer determined to thwart the butter-carving aspirations of a zealous small-town antagonist portrayed by Jennifer Garner.

The character’s uniqueness and sharp wit appealed to Wilde, who found the challenge of portraying her both exhilarating and gratifying.

Director Jim Field Smith selected Wilde for the role of Brooke based on her ability to bring depth and authenticity to the character.

Describing her as a blend of s**y, gritty, and humorous, Smith praised Wilde’s performance, likening her presence on set to a catalyst that energized each scene.

Beyond her role in “Butter,” Wilde’s career has seen exponential growth, with notable projects including the Formula 1 biopic “Rush,” the comedy “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone,” and the sci-fi romance “Her.”

The actress expressed gratitude for the opportunities to be selective in her projects, prioritizing meaningful roles over commercial success.

In addition to her acting pursuits, Wilde is actively involved with charitable organizations such as Artists for Peace and Justice, which focuses on providing education and healthcare services in Haiti.

Her commitment to social causes reflects her upbringing in a family of investigative journalists, instilling in her a sense of responsibility towards global issues.

Transitioning from Los Angeles to Manhattan, Wilde now enjoys a more balanced lifestyle, residing downtown with her partner, comedian Jason Sudeikis, and their rescue dog Paco.

Embracing domesticity, she relishes decorating their new apartment and engaging in personal hobbies, including playing the electronic drum kit they recently acquired.

Immersing herself in the vibrant culture of New York City, Wilde explores art exhibitions, commutes via subway with a book in hand, and indulges in live theater performances with Sudeikis.

The couple’s shared passion for creativity extends to their leisure activities, fostering a dynamic partnership that may someday translate into a collaborative project on screen.
