Matt Smith, renowned for his portrayal of Prince Philip in the early seasons of the hit Netflix series, The Crown, recently disclosed an amusing anecdote about his encounter with Prince Harry.
The actor shared that during a chance meeting at a polo match in 2017, Prince Harry greeted him with a surprising nickname, addressing him as “grandad,” to which Smith playfully responded with a casual, “Alright mate?”
It appears that Prince Harry was not only familiar with Smith’s depiction of his grandfather but also found humor in the portrayal, as revealed by Smith in a conversation with the BBC.
The actor mentioned that while he could not confirm if Prince Harry currently follows the show, the royal had indeed watched some episodes back then.
Interestingly, Smith added a tidbit about Queen Elizabeth II’s viewing habits, stating that she reportedly enjoyed watching The Crown on a projector on Sunday nights.
